Mohsin brings over 18 years of experience in the UK higher education sector, with a proven track record of success across both public and private institutions. Throughout his career, he has spearheaded transformative initiatives at several UK universities, driving sustainable international student recruitment growth, opening new global markets, and building the strategic frameworks institutions need to thrive in an increasingly competitive international landscape. His work directly supports the ambitions of the UK's International Education Strategy 2026, which calls on the sector to recruit high-quality international students from a diverse range of countries and to position the UK as the world's partner of choice in education.
As a former nationality-elected official for BUILA (British Universities International Liaison Association), Mohsin has represented the collective interests of 145 UK universities at the highest levels of the sector. He rejuvenated the organisation's engagement with sponsors, led the Middle East regional interest group, and played a pivotal role in shaping sector-wide conferences that brought together institutional leaders, government stakeholders, and international partners. As Director of both London Higher International and the London Universities International Partnerships Committee, he worked in close collaboration with the Mayor's Office to promote London as a world-leading study destination contributing directly to the kind of cross-government, cross-sector partnership the IES 2026 identifies as essential to growing the UK's global education standing and achieving its ambition of £40 billion in education exports by 2030.
With a formative background in the civil service specialising in immigration, Mohsin has a rare and deep understanding of UKVI compliance an area that sits at the very core of the IES 2026's commitment to sustainable and responsible international recruitment. He ensures that institutional strategies are not only ambitious but fully aligned with Home Office regulatory requirements, helping universities protect their sponsor licence, strengthen their admissions processes, and build the internal compliance capability needed for long-term resilience.
